Support Unit
The
HIV/AIDS epidemic is
a major challenge to the family, church, and the community. The
pandemic also affects the socio-economic structure of our communities.
Therefore prevention efforts must aim at reducing the HIV/AIDS
impact on the family, and reduce HIV transmission in our communities
through targeted interventions. In order to prevent the further
spread of HIV/AIDS and mitigate its impact on individuals and
communities we provide support to community based initiatives.
The
Programme is responsible for programmes aimed at mobilising and
initiating Community Based , Faith Based and Non-governmental
Organisation in various communities on the Copperbelt
HIV/AIDS
Polices Unit 
The
HIV/AIDS Policies programme is aimed at mobilising and providing
technical support to different organisation both civil society
and private sector to develop proactive HIV/AIDS prevention and
impact mitigation programmes in their workplaces. Also to help
these sectors to formulate and implement HIV/AIDS policies that
would contribute significantly to prevention, Care and Support
system
Advocacy
and Gender Unit
Given
the fact that there has been an historical power imbalance between
the male and the female gender in favour of the earlier, it is
imperative that women and men are given relevant and necessary
information and education that will help them protect each other.
The
Programme is in charge of looking at all programmes relating to
children, youth and women’s programmes. They provide technical
support to community based organisation, schools and NGOs in relation
to gender and advocacy training mentoring and awareness raising
Peer Education Programme – Supported by Cecily’s Funds
We are working partnership with Cecily’s funds of United Kingdom is implementing a peer education program aiming at raising awareness on HIV/AIDS among the young people in schools. The programme is being implemented in 25 selected in Kitwe District of the Copperbelt province. To achieve this, our OVC partner organization ‘HODI’ recruits the peer educators and hand them to CHEP who later train them as peer educators. Currently the programme is reaching to over 6000 young people in schools with 40 trained peer educators. Peer educators in this schools help to form active Anti-AIDS club to take a more proactive role in responding to the prevention of HIV/AIDS scourge among the pupils.
Monitoring and Evalution Unit
The
programme is in charge of ensuring that all implemented programmes
have a project implementation plan and that all activities are
monitored, evaluated and documented. They also look special project that
are of a short-term nature.
Information
Systems Unit
The
department enhance information management in the organisation,
the department focuses on ensuring that all the information technology
functions in CHEP are well organized and properly maintained.
These include database, word processing, work planning , Website
up date, reporting e-mail services and computer networks. The
IT staff also provides technical support to partners on information
management system.
Accounts
Unit
This
department has five personnel who ensure that CHEP’s property
and finances are well accounted for but they also provide technical
support on financial matters to CBOs and NGOs so that the fight
against HIV/AIDS is effectively accelerated in the community
Administration
Unit
The
department is in charge of ensuring that all office and human
resource procedures are timely and well implemented. The unit
is in charge of ensuring
that stationery and other office accessories are regularly replenished,
staff contracts are timely signed and renewed and that visitors
are well attended to.
Currently
CHEP has a total number of 30 full time staff, who are qualified
and experienced technical and programme staff and the remaining
8 are competent support staff.
